4 Tips for Sticking to Your New Year's Health Goals

Happy New Year!

2019 has come and gone, and a new year has begun. This often begs the question: "What now?"... I'm sure many of us have made resolutions to better ourselves in one way or another, and although our intentions are good, they can often be hard to stick to after the excitement of a ‘new year, new me’ has worn off. But I have GOOD news, there are some very simple things we can do to actually commit to and stick to our health & wellness goals.

4 Tips for Sticking to Your Health Goals:

1.) Baby steps. Forming new and sustainable habits is hard work, so allow yourself to take it a day at a time, and to take it slow.

2.) Dedication. Devote a small part of each day to your change (taking the stairs instead of the elevator, drinking more water, 10 minutes of breathing exercises or meditation at a time that is best for you, scheduling a workout, etc.).

** Set an alarm if you need reminding, and schedule your workouts ahead of time (even if it just means walking outside), so you actively carve it into your schedule.

3.) Familiarity. Tack on a new healthy habit to part of your routine you are already doing so that you’re more likely to fit it into your schedule (example: meditating while your coffee is brewing in the morning)

4.) Piecemeal (pun intended). Rather than going on a crash diet which will provide only temporary benefits, try replacing problematic foods with healthy alternatives one or two at a time.
